I taught in mainstream education for over 20 years, I was then lucky enough to change my career path to become a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf; something that I had wanted to do for many years.  I diversified further when I was lucky enough to also become an Intervention and Prevention Teacher working with a wide and diverse number pupils who had barriers to learning; supporting parents, teachers and school teams to provide targeted additional needs interventions; working closely with professionals within education and a wide range of outside agencies to improve the outcomes for pupils. In August 2024 it was decided that the IPT role would no longer continue and I was redeployed to a Complex Needs school where I am currently working. I am also a mother to four – now teenage- children and have lived experience of ASN.
